I bought about five of these. all worked as expected and there are no problems. I will be buying more. they are perfect for the retro build or the Clone build.

This is the original form factor M16/M16A1 20 round aluminum magazine that was government issue in the US Military in the 1960's and later standard civilian issue with the AR15. The only differences are the spring and follower materials - stainless steel springs and a plastic follower instead of the original cast aluminum. The grey phosphate finish is a dry lube type to facilitate easy insertion and removal from the magazine well of your rifle. I prefer these to the 30 round size because you can carry them easier and carry enough of them to provide a substantial amount of firepower - and they work better for prone shooting because of their shorter length. I also think they give your rifle a leaner look which I personally prefer. So you can carry six of these or four of the 30's and have 120 rounds to deal with any situation, but because of the 20 round magazine's length you feel less burdened and can carry them in your shooting vest or coat pockets without the need for big, ugly mag pouches that make it difficult to move or sit.

You will get a compact yet more than adequate level of firepower with these magazines. Easy to disassemble and maintain, and ruggedly reliable, these magazines just work.

I got 10 mags for my sp1 and a model 607 clone great mags for the classic look

I have five of these and love them. I use them for shooting off the bench, hunting, and in CMP/NRA highpower matches. Way cheaper than other brands of good quality 20rd USGI style mags. Don't listen to the noobs that think you need an anti tilt follower in a straight 20rd mags, they have no clue what they're talking about.

These are fantastic 20 round magazines. Naysayers complaining about the lack of anti-tilt followers are simpletons. The USGI straight body 20 round magazine REQUIRES A TILTING FOLLOWER, the rounds MUST curve inside the magazine as designed. If you want a 20 round mag with an anti-tilt follower, get a curved body 20 round magazine.

I've purchased several of the Brownell 20 round magazines and they have never failed to feed or hold the bolt open, more than I can say for my PMAGS as they wear, even with their great followers. These followers may tilt, but I have never experienced an issue in the field or on the bench and I'm generally pretty rough on things. Might take a slight technique to load quickly, but again not a real issue and it is a minor skill set that is learned quickly.

I've ordered 4 or 5 of the 20 rounders over the last 6 months. They are a good value. The fit, finish and reliability is on par with nhtmg magazines.

I'm writing this review for one simple reasons. The prior reviewers that complained that the mag didn't have anti-tilt followers.

These are 20rd straight body mags. They are not supposed to have anti-tilt followers. They work well without them.

This was my first and last time ordering from Brownells. I have heard so much about their reputation and quality merchandise, but have found it not true with my order. I ordered (2) 20 round magazine, one with stainless spring (SS) and one with the chrome silicone (CS) spring. Both are cheap junk. They use tilting followers which I didn't think anyone used anymore. Even my original 20 round Colt mags from the early 70's have non-tilting followers. The feeding lips have sharp edges, and the followers queak against the mag body when depressed. Avoid these and buy polymer mags or old quality metal mags that say AR15 or M16A1 on the base plates.

This is an OK mag! I was hoping that they had anti tilt followers but I was let down. Now looks like I got spend a little more to fix this problem! I don't need a JAM in the middle of a competition.

I have favored the 20 round magazines better for shooting off of the bench.

I have not had one hiccup with this product.

Brownell's is making some of the best AR mags Ive seen to date and at a excellent price point.
Really like the fact that the mags come with the DFL coating instead of the teflon coating some use.Much easier to refinish and durable.
Excellent fit,finish and 100% reliable.Plus Brownell's warranty is hard to beat.Can't ask for more.

I'd like to give it a 3.5, but it definitely doesn't deserve a 4, the body is nice, the finish is fine, the spring and base plate are what you'd expect and the price is great. However, the follower is a joke, it is nothing like the green follower in the 30 round mags, it has no anti-tilt tab on the front and only a minimal anti-tilt tab on the back, and to top it all off the follower isn't quite wide enough so there is some side to side tilt. With some modification a Magpul follower can be trimmed to fit in this magazine while maintaining its 20 round capacity, but there is no reason Brownells couldn't have done at least an acceptable job on the 20 rd follower. A disappointment from an otherwise GREAT company.

We have found these magazines suitable for ammo which is loaded shorter than the SAAMI standard of 2.26 inches OAL, as is most military ammo. In our experience with match loads at 2.258 inches OAL, the magazines were too short to accomodate the round. We have used these magazines in conjuntion with the Sinclair single shot adapters for slow fire and they work ok. So, try a couple before you order up a bunch because you may find your cartridges do not fit. Also, as they are cast aluminum, you can't bend them for adjustment. They just break, not bend.

Received 2 yesterday. used them today & after using ,wiped mags down w/Rem Oil and the finish started coming off. Very easily scratched.

I used this mag in my old SP1, fit was great and function was 100% Brownells is making a wonderful mag here! The finish is on par with my USGI mags. Several hunderd rounds and no problems. These are the same dimensions as the old Colt 20rnd mags. I love them!
