If you perform your own maintenance on your 1911 pistol, this is one tool you must own.

Your 1911's extractor is a critical component of your American legend and one that must be kept in prime condition if you expect it to perform reliably.

This tool, along with Weigand's extractor gauge set (very inexpensive) and an RCBS trigger pull gauge (also inexpensive)will allow you to easily and accurately determine and adjust your extractor's tension to just the right amount each and every time. No muss, no fuss, no guesswork.

This ingenius American-Made tool is inexpensive, and is for all practical purposes a hand-held arbor press. The accompanying instuctions make the set so simple to use that even a caveman can do it!

Weigand's extractor tool does exactly what he says it will. John Browning would be proud!

1911 auto extractor tensioning tool (12/09/2011)

I like the tool, it made adjusting the tension on the extractor very easy. I found the 1.5 inch 1/4-28 cap screw to be too short to adjust a 9 mmm (1911a1) properly. I substituted a 1.75 inch 1/4-28 cap screw which I cut the threads the full length of the cap screw. This gave me plenty of adjustment space to work with.

Great invention by Jack Weigand.
Makes setting precise extractor tension a breeze - no bending on the frame. Can even unbend if you go too much.

Suggest with the extractor tension gauges for a great set.

What a time saver! (01/12/2012)

I was really hesitant to purchase one of these at first because I did not want to spend the money on this, the tension gauge set, and a trigger pull gauge, but after months of failure to extracts from about 30% of my rounds I finally got fed up and forked the cash over. Now I am wishing I had not waited so long!

If you are experiencing symptoms of brass stovepiping in the ejection port, hitting your face or head, or even just never leaving the chamber at all, there is a very high probability that your extractor does not have enough tension and this gauge set will help you correct it.

First, let me say not to waste your time and efforts in following the DIY solutions given on YouTube. You will spend too long guessing and you will end up wasting your time and getting frustrated when you have to retune to your extractor every few weeks.

This tool is extremely easy to use! It even has groves so that your extractor sits in the correct position. Once you figure the proper positioning of the screw, you can lock it in place so the next time you need to do any readjustments, it is already in place for you.

I would highly recommend you get the tension gauge set along with this to adjust your extractor. It is very inexpensive and once you figuring out how to use everything, it will only take a few minutes to correct your tension, instead of the many hours to weeks of trial and error you would have wasted on guessing.

Started with a straight new extractor. This tool allowed precise adjustment and consistent pull test within 1-2 oz's. Like other tools for a specific job, this one fits the bill perfectly. Highly recommend for getting the ejector properly tuned.

Worth Every Penny (30/03/2018)

It took about an hour the 1st time I used it. But I took my time and it Works. Tuned the extractor on an ATI Titan 3" Officer model 1911. It would not extract at all until I tuned the extractor with this tool, the Gauge set, and a trigger pull gauge. Set it at 26 ounces and it worked perfect. From the factory it was only 12 ounces. Not nearly enough
