Protect Receiver From Damage When Clamping

Heavy-duty blocks allow you to firmly clamp AR-15/M16 receiver halves in a vise without risk of crushing, twisting, or otherwise distorting them when applying vise pressure or torquing the barrel nut. Keeps your rifle secure for safe, effective cleaning, assembly, and repair. High pressure, solvent resistant, structural Rynite block and insert surround the entire upper receiver and support it inside and out to make rebarreling the AR-15/M16 an easy, one-man job. Lets you firmly secure a mil-spec carry handle receiver or mil-spec flattop receiver in a large bench vise for barrel removal/installation. Torque generated while tightening the barrel nut is transmitted to the block and insert, not the receiver. Minimizes the possibility of damage to the barrel detent pin and receiver detent notch. Holds securely without marring the finish. DO NOT USE ON BILLET UPPERS OR LEFT HAND UPPERS, OR DAMAGE TO THE UPPER CAN RESULT.

SPECS: Injection-molded Rynite, black. Fits A1, A2, and standard flattop receivers. Block - 2.5" (6.3cm) thick, 3.5" (8.8cm) wide, 4.5" (11.4cm) high. Insert - 8" (20cm) long, 1" (2.5cm) diameter. Torque tested to 200 ft. lbs.

Blocchi robusti permettono di serrare fermamente le metà del ricevitore AR-15/M16 in una morsa senza rischio di schiacciare, torcere o altrimenti deformarli quando si applica pressione della morsa o si esercita la coppia di serraggio sul dado del canna. Mantiene il tuo fucile sicuro per una pulizia, assemblaggio e riparazione efficaci e sicuri. Blocco e inserto strutturale in Rynite ad alta pressione e resistente ai solventi avvolgono completamente il ricevitore superiore e lo supportano internamente ed esternamente per rendere la sostituzione della canna dell'AR-15/M16 un lavoro facile da svolgere da una sola persona. Permette di fissare saldamente un ricevitore con maniglia di trasporto mil-spec o un ricevitore mil-spec flattop in una grande morsa da banco per la rimozione/installazione della canna. La coppia generata durante il serraggio del dado del canna viene trasmessa al blocco e all'inserimento, non al ricevitore. Minimizza la possibilità di danneggiare il perno di ritenzione della canna e la tacca di ritenzione del ricevitore. Mantiene saldamente senza rovinare la finitura. NON USARE SU UPPER BILLET O UPPER PER MANCINI, O POTREBBE RISULTARE DANNI ALL'UPPER.

Just Perfect! (17/09/2009)

This tool will save you time and money. The fit is good and will save you from doing serious damage to the upper receiver. Makes taking off the barrel nut a simple quick job to replace the barrel, gas tube or do a really good job of cleaning the breach. If you work on or own any AR-15/M-16 you will need one of these! It also comes with an insert that goes inside the upper receiver to help prevent putting to much pressure or torquing of the upper.

Great Tool For Amatures (27/12/2009)

I used this block to install an 11.5" BBL on a DPMS upper A3 upper receiver a few years back and it worked flawless. There is an insert not shown on brownells that protects the receiver from being twisted as you torque the barrel. It goes in where the bolt would normally. A must have tool for any AR15 owner that might want to remove or install a BBL.

If you have friends or relatives with an AR15, they will love you for having this tool available since NOT using a receiver block will damage your rifle.

Good but not Great (19/02/2010)

By all means everyone that does any type of work on their own rifles should have a receiver action block. They are without a doubt the most handy tool there is. This block, however, closes from the top down over the upper receiver. Using any type of non-standard uppper receiver is not possible because the block will not close around the protruding metal. I have recently purchased a Bushmaster Receiver Block that closes from the bottom of the upper receiver. This way if you have optics already mounted or have an upper with a high rail - it does not cause any problems. Since the bottom of the receivers will all be the same so that they can mate with the mil-spec lower receiver - you will not have any issue at all. I would not recommend this particular block to a friend though ... I would recommend the Bushmaster.

This block works great, no problems, only improvement I made to it was to drill a hole through it, so I could hang it on my peg board. I also marked left and right on the sides.

An absolute necessity for building an AR (14/03/2010)

This simple action block works great to safely secure your upper receiver for installing your barrel nut or flash hider. The block is constructed of non-marring delrin that is gentle on the finish of your upper. The block accepts both the carry handle and flattop versions. It also includes an upper insert to protect the integrity of the upper while clamping. This tool is an absolute essential to have in your toolbox.

this tool is definatly a "must have" if you are into doing your own barrel changes etc.on your ar-15 rifles....its an excellent tool well worth the money....it fits most ar-15's except DPMS TYPES....CHECK WITH BROWNELLS REPS. BEFORE PURCHASE....

huge misalignment issues (11/04/2010)

Doesnt fit DPMS,STAG,L.A.R grizzly,Vltor,Smith and Wesson !!! with "NO" receiver installed the vice block cannot close without added force,when closed there is a huge misalignment of about 1/8 inch fron side to side. I understand many of these receivers are from the same original machine shop but I added the names to help those who dont know this fact. Vltor are not milspec but all the rest are supposed to be. I may have to custom machine it to work as did another reveiewer did, its plastic so i may have to.I just really supprised at the poor quality even without a receiver mounted.

I have used this item several times working on my own rifles and it worked great. Now however, since I have obtained the rail alignment tool, I
think the block needs to be modified to allow use of the alignment tool with the action clamped in the block.

Works great with mil spec uppers (08/09/2010)

This action block works fine with both flattop and carry handle uppers. Stiff enough to really hold your work yet won't scratch the finish.

Great looking block, fits a carry handle and a flatty I have perfect, however I would have liked to have seen the insert fit tighter inside the upper. Maybe I'm too picky but it seems like it would be better if it was more of a slip fit than a loose fit.

Seems really stout though and it's good the hinge has a little preload to it, should help hold the receiver in and not drop it on the floor while you are placing in your vise

I had a Spike's Tactical upper and it worked just like it was supposed to. The insert that goes inside the receiver was loose the whole time however. I'm not sure if it was doing anything. I ended up having to put 70 foot pounds of torque on the barrel nut to index the next hole and it worked flawlessly.
